As you may already know, Netflix has a pretty great selection of TV shows and movies, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t more to add to the list! If you’re looking for some awesome new TV shows to watch on your down time, then these are the top 5 Netflix series you need to watch today! Check it out below!

1) Castlevania

Castlevania is about a family of vampire hunters who, for generations, have been battling Dracula. The series is based on the Castlevania video game franchise and stars Graham McTavish as Count Dracula. There are three seasons of this show currently available on Netflix with a fourth season scheduled to be released in 2018. All four seasons will be streaming in October 2018 when Netflix releases its new horror movies list including the critically acclaimed anime series Devilman Crybaby. If you’re looking for something more lighthearted, Stranger Things follows a group of kids from Hawkins Indiana after they find out that their friend has gone missing. One of them goes in search for him and comes back to town completely changed. A few years later, he starts showing up at school again and it's clear that he isn't quite right. It's up to our heroes - Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) - to figure out what happened over those few months that he was gone. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is another fantastic option if you're looking for something happy. Following Kimmy (Ellie Kemper), an adult woman who was kidnapped by a cult as a teenager and then rescued 10 years later, she decides to restart her life by moving to New York City where she gets stuck living with her old boss. Created by Tina Fey and starring Ellie Kemper, there are four seasons of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt currently available on Netflix.

2) Narcos

This show is an amazing binge-worthy series that captures your attention from episode one. The storyline of this show is about a DEA agent, Pablo Escobar and his rise to power in Colombia.

Narcos’s first season begins with Escobar as a low-level member of the Medellín Cartel, while also focusing on Escobar’s relationship with his family and the Colombian government during this time. As the first season progresses, Escobar establishes himself within the cartel and moves up in rank by assassinating those who either double-crossed him or stood in his way. He eventually becomes leader of the cartel, which was one of the wealthiest criminal organizations at that time. With over 300 murders linked to Escobar, he became more powerful than any other law enforcement agency in Colombia. However, his infamy grew when it was discovered that he had been smuggling drugs into the U.S., generating billions of dollars per week. When many Americans began to support the government's efforts against him, Escobar responded with violence: bombings, kidnappings, and beheadings. His death in 1993 brought little relief for Americans since there were many drug lords waiting to take his place.

Narcos is not just another cop drama because it tells you everything you need to know about how cocaine came onto the scene and gave us one of our most ruthless drug lords of all time.

3) The Crown

Netflix's newest series, The Crown tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II from her birth in 1926 and her ascension to the throne at age 25 through her reign which has spanned over six decades. The first season covers up until 1955, when she was 25-years-old and had just become queen. For those who don't know much about British royalty, this show is an amazing primer on how it works and what all goes into being a monarch. Plus, Claire Foy (The Girl With All the Gifts) does an incredible job portraying young Elizabeth.

It's one of my favorite shows I've seen in years - you should totally watch it if you haven't already!

I'm happy that there are now two seasons available on Netflix so I can keep watching without having to wait for new episodes every week.

If you love period pieces then this is right up your alley - I can't recommend it enough! And while the topic might be a little dry, it doesn't detract from how addictive and enjoyable the show is. And with 10 hours per season, this is perfect for binge watchers. You won't regret starting this series.

Regardless of where you stand politically, House of Cards is definitely worth checking out!

Featuring Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood and Robin Wright as his wife, Claire Underwood, House of Cards follows them both as they ascend to power in Washington D.C., but not before facing numerous obstacles that threaten their lives and their marriage.

4) Friends from College

This show is a modern take on being an adult in your late twenties, and it is absolutely hilarious. The show follows a group of friends from Harvard as they enter their thirties. The show stars Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, Fred Savage, Annie Parisse, Nat Faxon, Jae Suh Park and Billy Eichner. This show is perfect for people looking for a light hearted comedy that follows different stages of adulthood. It’s also great for fans of shows like Parks and Rec and Arrested Development. Orange is the New Black: One of my favorite shows ever, this prison drama focuses on the lives of inmates with interesting backgrounds at Litchfield Penitentiary, a fictional minimum security prison in upstate New York.

The season finale just aired so now you can marathon all seven seasons! American Vandal: If you liked Making A Murderer or Serial then this true crime series is definitely worth checking out! The story follows the investigation into who vandalized 27 high school cars by spray painting dicks onto them. We follow along with a couple high school students who were falsely accused of the vandalism and we try to uncover who really committed the crime.

5) Santa Clarita Diet

This show is about a husband and wife who are real estate agents living in Santa Clarita, CA. Sheila (Drew Barrymore) suddenly turns into a zombie and starts killing people in order to feed her craving for flesh. Her husband, Joel (Timothy Olyphant), and daughter, Abby (Liv Hewson), have no choice but to continue their normal lives while dealing with this crisis. The series stars Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant and Liv Hewson. It's funny, entertaining and surprisingly dark at times. The only thing that could make it better is if they were one of those zombified families you always see on TV that somehow still manages to get through life together despite the zombie apocalypse. But what can we say? Life doesn't always work out as planned. In any case, these folks are determined to enjoy whatever time they have left before fate catches up with them and delivers its final blow. -BoJack Horseman: Hilarious, quirky, sardonic and very self-aware. It follows the life of BoJack Horseman, a washed-up actor from the 1990s sitcom Horsin' Around during his various misadventures in Hollywoo - where he continues to make amends for his past mistakes. -Stranger Things: Sure Stranger Things isn't exactly new, but come on; do you really want us to tell you how good it is?
